3 Tips to Help Business Owners Find Time for Fitness
When you’re a business owner, you have to be involved in every aspect of running it. You have to be in several places at the same time.
So it’s tempting to spend all your time working, from early in the morning until late at night. For most business owners, this means that there’s no time left to work out. Some don’t even take the time to have proper meals. They just wolf down whatever they can in a few minutes and get back to work again.
This type of lifestyle can really interfere with your health. In the long run, you’re likely to suffer from many chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes. The best way to make sure that this doesn’t happen is by remaining fit and paying attention to your diet. Here are a few tips:
- Start Slow. A lot of people who are just getting on a fitness program sabotage themselves by starting too fast. They start doing very difficult workouts right away, which results in body aches and an inability to concentrate at work the next day. Don’t do this. If you haven’t been working out for a while, start by taking a half-hour or forty-five-minute walk. Walk at a pace that you’re comfortable with. It shouldn’t be too fast or too slow. Once you’re comfortable with this, you can slowly increase the intensity of your workouts.
- Break it Up. If you can’t take out an hour to exercise during your busy work day, try doing two or three mini-workouts whenever you have fifteen minutes. There are many things you can do in your office itself, such as pushups, dips, lunges and squats. You can even keep a pair of dumb bells at your desk and do curls, chest presses, chest flies, lateral raises etc. If you’re into yoga, close the office door and do the warrior positions or downward facing dog. Even if you only get two fifteen-minute interludes during the day, that’s still a half hour workout, which is much better than nothing at all.
- Find Something You Like. One way to make sure that you stick with your workouts is to find something that you like. In order to do this, you’ll have to try out a bunch of things, like running, joining a gym, yoga classes, dance classes etc. Keep trying things out until you find a fitness activity you enjoy. This will ensure that you make time for it.
